Oral hygiene is the term used to refer to the habit and practice of keeping one’s mouth clean and free from disease. The practice usually involves regular brushing of the teeth, gums, tongue, and cheek as well as regular flossing. It could also include using mouth wash and teeth whitening products. Oral hygiene also involves regular visits to the dentist for check-ups and for teeth cleaning. In most civilized society oral hygiene is considered to be part of personal grooming and self-care.
